Volunteer with us
The Quilt Association has always run on the power and support of volunteers to care for and share our quilt collection. We do a lot of different types of things so there is almost definitely a way for you to be involved. Below are some of our volunteer roles for you to take a look at.

If you'd like to be involved, but just occasionally, or perhaps you have something specific you'd like to do, or perhaps you don't know, get in touch. We always love hearing from people who want to get involved.

If you can help us with social media, fundraising, or photography let us know!

Quilt Conservation Volunteer
Our quilts are cared for by a dedicated team of volunteers. You'll learn how to care for the quilts as well as documenting new quilts to learn about their rich history, both from a social and textile perspective. This is a great role for people interested in history, as well as archiving.

Exhibition team volunteer
Our team work hard to ensure that our exhibitions are engaging, informative and enjoyable. We come up with the concept and context for the exhibition. The types of things you could be involved in are writing the exhibition guide, selecting items for the exhibition and installing the exhibition. You’ll also be creating engaging activities to support people, including children to get the most out of the exhibition.

Exhibition Steward
We hold 2 exhibitions a year which are stewarded by volunteers. You'll be stewarding with another person welcoming our visitors and providing them with information. You’ll also be taking payments for items from our shop. Over time, you’ll learn about the quilts in our collection and be able to share your knowledge with visitors. This is a great role if you're a people person.

Workshop Volunteer
We are growing our opportunities for young people and adults to engage in our collection and are planning a programme of events on weekends and school holidays. If you are a stitcher, textile artist or creator and are interested in either running or supporting our textile workshops talk to us.
