About the event
Join our Quilt Conservation Club as we document, care for and explore our antique and heritage quilt collection. With around 300 quilts in our collection, each month we take on a new task that conserves our quilts, ensuring they are available for research and exhibition. Our archive is jam packed with quilts dating from the early 19th century to the 1970s. We have a whole range of different styles and a lot of our quilts have come with personal stories. Our Quilt Conservation Club is made up of people who have a passion for textile history, quilts and archiving as well as those who are interested to find out more.
The types of activities we do are
Documenting new quilts
Refolding long stored quilts for preservation
Adding sleeves on to quilts for exhibitions
Deep diving into our quilts to add to the documentation we have on them
