Minerva Quilts 13

8 July 2013 - 7 September 2013

This year we have yet another exciting combination of antique and contemporary quilts.

There will a large selection of Canadian Red Cross quilts, the latest exhibition from SiX and friends, and new work from the contemporary group Cauldron.

To whet your appetite, here are two works by Annabel Rainbow, a member of SiX and Friends (Laura Kemshall, Linda Kemshall, Edwina Mackinnon and Catherine Nicholls, with friends Hilary Beattie, Ineke Berlyn, Annabel Rainbow and Stephanie Redfern):

SiX and Friends have added new work to their travelling exhibition Orientation for this larger venue, and say about their pieces: "From the precise folds of origami, mystery of the Geisha, funky colours of sushi to the exquisite forms of Chinese pots and bonsai, there is almost limitless inspiration to be found as we look East".

Koumori by Catherine Nicholls:

The Gift - the first exhibition in Wales of quilts made by the women of Canada in Word War 2 and sent to Britain as a "Gift of the Canadian Red Cross Society," for those bombed out, displaced and in need of warmth and comfort. On 3 August at 7pm there will be a talk by the Canadian Red Cross Research Group. Find out more and details of how to book a ticket here.

Cauldron are a group of five like-minded quilters from North Wales who thrive on challenges. Working together they have exhibited in The Oriel Gallery, Ynys Mon and in the Ucheldre Centre, Holyhead. Prize winners at the Festival of Quilts and Quilts UK at Malvern, the group says, "We enjoy what we do and have lots of fun."
