Happy New Year dear readers!! 2014 heralds the twentieth anniversary of our summer exhibition in The Minerva Arts Centre so we hope that as many of you as possible will make it along! We want to celebrate our china anniversary in style, so this year sees the first summer school. We are honoured and delighted to welcome Sandra Meech to Llanidloes.

Sandra is one of Britain’s most respected and inspirational textile artists and was one of the few practitioners selected for the Fine Art Quilt Masters display at 2013’s Festival of Quilts.  She has authored some wonderful books  – do read Creative Quilts if you need guidance and an injection of verve!  Sandra will be teaching a new course – Less is More – and for those interested in design, but hesitant to wade in deep, Sandra will show you how simplifying and refining your approach to design will reap rewards both in what you create and in how you feel about the process!  If you are interested in the summer school, email education@quilt.org.uk

Did any of you read today’s Guardian?  It is high time that the wonderful town of Llanidloes got a mention!  We were glad to be highlighted as a special part of Llanidloes life!  The town is a wonderful place both for  visitors and residents and we like to think we add to the creative buzz of the town.  It is rare to find so many independent businesses thriving against the economic odds.  We even have an independent book shop!
