Sandra Meech Summer School
29 July 2014 - 31 July 2014
Less is More
Sandra's newest workshop - ‘Less is More’. Over three days, students will use a simplified approach to the elements of design that will, nevertheless, produce sophisticated and complex results. Students will work on a personal themeand build on ideas from from drawings and photographic reference, looking at tonal values, shape, line, and textures along the way. Students will explore subtle use of colour: black and white, monochrome and neutrals with a dramatic touch of colour (with a defining bright colour for contrast). Learning how to make choices in surface techniques and embellishment will further consolidate this 'simple but strong' approach. Using heat transfer papers to create collage compositions and drawings on fabric will also provide a starting point for several small stitched pieces. Students will go home with dozens of ideas for future textile work!
Each day of the school will run from 10am until 4pm.
