New look, new chair, new show!

7 July 2013

Andy Warren, who has been chair of The Quilt Association for over 15 years, hands over to new chair Jean Pegg (centre) and vice chair Christine Cooper (left).

Andy opens Minerva 13 and makes his farewell speech to the many quilt enthusiasts who attended on one of the hottest days of the year so far.

Andy reminisces fondly about his many years' hanging exhibitions at the Centre.

The bright colours of contemporary quilts from the North Wales group Cauldron (background) sit perfectly alongside the antique woollen piece from the Red Cross section of the show.

Doreen Gough and Geoff Pedley (trustees) chat in front of another stunning Cauldron piece.

A visitor views one of the Red Cross quilts in this year's exhibition.

Whilst others take a closer look at some of the memorabilia associated with the Red Cross quilts - made by Canadian women and distributed amongst the many made homeless in the UK during the bombing raids of World War 2.

In Gallery 2 SiX and Friends have their exhibition. Here is a piece by Stephanie Redfern.

And a triptych by Linda Kemshall - that frog better watch out!

The group took a Japanese influence to inspire their work for this touring show. This piece is by Annabel Rainbow.

And retail therapy is just as much fun as it looks! Especially with these incredible group pieces by Cauldron to take as inspiration.

The Minerva Arts Centre in all its new glory! We hope to see you in person to check it out for yourselves. The show is open daily except Sundays 10.30am - 4.30pm until 7 September 2013.
